Your data rights

Your data rights at AetherForge

AetherForge is designed to keep invention projects private by default and to give you practical control over your information. This page explains the requests you can make and what happens after you make one. The rights available to you depend on where you live and are subject to legal exceptions.

Your choices

You may ask AetherForge to:

  • Access or know: confirm whether we process your personal information and provide access to it and related details.
  • Export or port: provide a copy of eligible information in a commonly used format.
  • Correct: fix inaccurate personal information.
  • Delete: delete or anonymize eligible personal information and project content.
  • Restrict: limit certain processing where applicable.
  • Object: object to certain processing based on legitimate interests or to direct marketing.
  • Withdraw consent: withdraw consent for future processing where consent is the legal basis.
  • Opt out: opt out of sale, sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising, targeted advertising, or certain profiling where applicable. AetherForge does not sell personal information or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising.
  • Limit sensitive-information use: request limits on certain uses or disclosures where applicable.
  • Appeal: ask us to reconsider a denied privacy request where applicable.

You may also complain to your local privacy or data-protection regulator. You will not be discriminated against for exercising a privacy right.

Self-service controls

  • Update account details: Account Preferences
  • Export your data: Account Preferences → Your Data → Download everything
  • Archive an invention: use the invention’s archive control; projects containing saved evidence cannot currently be permanently deleted by the inventor as a separate self-service action
  • Delete your account: Account Preferences → Your Data → Delete
  • Manage essential cookies and saved device preferences: use your browser’s cookie and site-data controls
  • Unsubscribe from marketing: use the unsubscribe link in the message

Submit a request

Use either of these methods:

  1. Use the self-service export or deletion controls under Account Preferences → Your Data.
  2. Email legal@afcopilot.com with the subject “Privacy Request.”

Tell us the type of request, the email address associated with your account, your state or country, and enough detail to identify the information involved. Do not send government identification or sensitive invention details by ordinary email unless we specifically ask you to use a secure method.

Verification

We must verify that a requester is the person whose information is involved or is authorized to act for that person. Verification may require you to sign in, confirm control of your account email, answer questions about your account, or provide other information matched against our records.

We will request only information reasonably necessary for verification. If we cannot verify a request, we may ask for more information or limit what we provide. For sensitive exports or deletion, we may require stronger verification.

Authorized agents

Where law permits, you may authorize another person to submit a request for you. We may require proof of the agent’s authority and may ask you to verify your identity or confirm the authorization directly. A valid power of attorney may satisfy these requirements where applicable.

What happens after a request

We will confirm receipt and respond within the period required by applicable law. We aim to:

  • confirm receipt within 10 business days;
  • respond to verified access, correction, and deletion requests within 45 calendar days, with an extension where law permits and we notify you; and
  • respond to GDPR/UK GDPR requests without undue delay and ordinarily within one month, subject to a lawful extension.

We generally do not charge a fee. Where law permits, we may charge a reasonable fee or decline requests that are manifestly unfounded, excessive, or repetitive, after explaining why.

If we deny all or part of a request, we will explain the reason unless law prohibits us from doing so and will provide appeal or complaint instructions where required.

Exports

An export may include account data, project and invention records, messages, documents, version history, provenance labels, and eligible activity records associated with you. Some information may be withheld or redacted to protect another person’s rights, security, confidential system information, or legal obligations.

Rendered files such as PDFs or images may be regenerated from canonical project records. Export formats and contents can vary by data type.

Deletion and anonymization

Deletion is not always immediate or absolute. When we fulfill a deletion request, we may delete records, anonymize direct identifiers, and break links between you and records that must remain. We may retain information when reasonably necessary to:

  • comply with law, tax, accounting, or reporting duties;
  • detect or prevent fraud, abuse, or security incidents;
  • maintain transaction integrity and non-identifying usage or cost records;
  • establish, exercise, or defend legal claims;
  • protect the rights and safety of users or others;
  • honor a litigation, regulatory, or other legal hold; or
  • maintain isolated backups until they are overwritten under the backup schedule.

Legal holds override ordinary deletion while the hold remains active. When the hold ends, ordinary retention and deletion rules resume. Properly anonymized information is not personal information and may be retained.

Because deletion can permanently remove invention history, exports, and provenance that may be useful to you, consider exporting your account before requesting deletion. This is practical information, not legal or patent advice.

California requests

California residents may request access to specific pieces and categories of personal information, sources, purposes, and recipient categories; request correction or deletion; opt out of sale or sharing; and limit certain use or disclosure of sensitive personal information. AetherForge will honor valid browser-based opt-out preference signals where legally required.

Because AetherForge does not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, a “Do Not Sell or Share” choice does not change current processing. If practices change, the required control will be available before that processing begins.

EEA and UK requests

If the law where you live provides these rights, you may have rights to be informed; access; rectification; erasure; restriction; portability; objection; withdrawal of consent; and safeguards related to solely automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects. You may complain to the data-protection authority where you live or work or where you believe a violation occurred.

UK supervisory authority: Information Commissioner’s Office, where applicable.

Appeals

If you disagree with our decision, reply to the decision email with the subject “Privacy Appeal” within 45 days. We will review the appeal and respond within the time required by your jurisdiction. If we deny the appeal, we will tell you how to contact the appropriate regulator or attorney general where required.
